Healthcare Provider BLS – HeartCode Blended Learning Skills Check

Northwest Arctic Region EMS is pleased to offer the AHA HeartCode® BLS Skills Check for healthcare providers and clinical support staff. This session completes the hands-on portion required for the AHA BLS Provider certification.
About This Course
HeartCode BLS is the American Heart Association’s blended learning format. Students first complete the online HeartCode BLS module at their own pace, followed by an in-person skills session with an AHA-certified instructor.
During the hands-on portion, students will practice and then demonstrate CPR competency without assistance, prompting, or coaching. Skills checks typically take 45–60 minutes, but we will spend as much time as needed to ensure confidence and proficiency.
Prerequisites (Must Be Completed Before Class)
- Purchase HeartCode® BLS online: HeartCode BLS | AHA
- Complete the online HeartCode BLS course.
- Print and bring your completion certificate to your skills check.
- Students without proof of completion must reschedule.
Skills Testing Requirements
To pass the in-person exam, students must successfully demonstrate:
- 1- and 2-rescuer Adult BLS with AED
- 1- and 2-rescuer Infant BLS
After Successful Completion
You will receive an email with a link to claim your AHA BLS Provider eCard. Your certification is not active until you claim your eCard.
eCards are typically issued within 30 days of class completion. Maniilaq Regional EMS can assist with eCard issues for the first 90 days. Failure to claim your eCard within 90 days may require retaking the course.

Attendance
If you are more than 10 minutes late without prior notification, you will need to reschedule your skills session.
