Community Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED
The American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is an instructor-led, community-focused class designed for laypersons, caregivers, childcare providers, and anyone who wants to learn essential lifesaving skills. No medical background is required.
This course prepares you to:
- Provide basic first aid
- Perform high-quality CPR for adults and infants
- Use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Relieve choking in adults and infants
This course also meets the requirements for Child Care Provider CPR/First Aid training.
After Course Completion
Upon successfully completing the course, you will receive an email with a link to claim your official AHA Heartsaver eCard (digital certificate).
- Your certification is not active until you claim your eCard.
- eCards are sent to the email you used when registering—please ensure it is correct and accessible.
- All AHA certifications are stored permanently in your AHA account once claimed.
- eCards are typically issued within 30 days of the course.
- Maniilaq EMS can assist with eCard issues for the first 90 days after the class.

What to Wear & Physical Requirements
Heartsaver CPR & First Aid includes practical, hands-on skills. You will be practicing CPR on manikins placed on the floor.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Expect some kneeling, bending, and moderate physical activity.
- If you have physical limitations or concerns, notify your instructor when you arrive.
Our instructors will do everything possible to accommodate your needs within the AHA course requirements.
